Looking for data to be reported this week, the September unemployment report due out this Thursday. The October employment report will most likely not be reported due to the inability to collect necessary data. What’s still unclear is whether the consumer-price index for October will be published. What ever data is reported, and when, there will concerns about accuracy that will keep the Fed and markets in quandaries, making a rate cut decision difficult either way.
Data on the calendar that won’t be released today; October industrial production and capacity utilization, October import and export prices, October factory orders.
At 9:30 am the DJIA opened -480, NASDAQ -192, S&P -44. From last Friday’s close through today’s open the DJIA is -1,037. 10 year at 9:30 am 4.10% -4 bps. FNMA 5.5 30 year coupon at 9:30 am +7 bps from yesterday’s close and -2 bps from 9:30 am yesterday.
At 10 am NAHB reported its November housing market index, expected at 37.0, the index increased to 38.
