Last week’s jobless claims were thought to be 213K, however declined to 202K. Another employment release that suggests employment is holding well. It nearly tied the two-year low of 201,000 in the first week of January. Continuing jobless claims, which serve as proxy for outstanding unemployment, edged higher by 25,000 to 1,841,000 in the third week of March, but remained below the average from the second half of last year.
Tomorrow markets get the March employment data 8:30 am ET. Estimates: NFP jobs +51K from +92K, private jobs +56K from -86K, average hourly earnings month/month +0.3% from +0.4%, year/year 3.8% unchanged from February.
The stock market will be closed tomorrow for Good Friday; the bond market will trade until 12 pm.
