Markets saw more selling yesterday, the 10 year note +9 bps, stock indexes down triple figures, MBS price down 50 bps. This morning more selling, the 10 year began 4 bps higher, MBSs -20 bps at 8:30 am ET.
Markets got a read on import and export prices on Wednesday, both exceeded forecasts. Import prices jumped 1.3% in February, the largest monthly increase since March 2022, while export prices rose 1.5%, the biggest gain since May 2022. OECD the (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) raised its forecast for U.S. inflation this year. The global forecasting agency estimates headline prices to rise at a 4.2% rate, far above its prior forecast and well above Fed expectations for 2.7%.
The over-riding issue is Iran now. Next week oil, rates and equity movements are likely to increase in volatility.
At 10 am March final University of Michigan concern sentiment index expected at 54.3 from 55.5.
