No progress between the US and Iran; the cease fire ends tomorrow at 9 pm ET. Global markets still expect an extension will happen. Stock indexes in futures trading prior to the 9:30 am open were higher, crude oil price slightly lower at 8 am.
ADP reported private jobs increased 54,750 for the four weeks ending April 4th; a significant acceleration from the upwardly revised 40,250 weekly jobs in the previous period and represents the fifth straight week of improving hiring activity. The latest figures also set a new record since weekly tracking began in September 2025.
March retail sales better than anticipated; month/month sales expected +1.4% from revised +0.7% in February. Excluding vehicle sales thought to be +1.3% increased 1.9% and up from 0.7% in February. Excluding vehicles and gas +0.6% with estimates at +0.2%.
At 10 am March pending home sales expected at +0.9% from +1.8% in February, reported at +1.5%. Details this afternoon.
