At 8:30 am ET the 10 year note was unchanged.
MBA reported last week’s mortgage applications were strong last week adding to the prior week’s gains. Overall apps rose by 14.1% from the previous week in the period ending January 16th, extending the 28.5% surge in the previous week. Applications for contracts to refinance a mortgage, which are sensitive to short-term changes in rates, rose by 20% from the previous week. Meanwhile, applications for a mortgage to purchase a new home rose by 5%.
At 10 am December pending home sales month/month -9.3% from +3.3% in November.
At 1 pm $13B 20 year bond auction.
