Bond markets improved yesterday on comments from the President that the talks with Iran were proceeding well and Jerome Powell saying he doesn’t see inflation increasing. The double dose of better news dropped the 10 year note 8 bps and the 2 year note -8 bps.
January Case/Shiller home price index, expected +0.5 month/month reported at +0.3%, year/year +1.2% from 1.4% in December. It marked the weakest annual growth since July 2023, underscoring the continued cooling in the US housing market. For the eighth straight month, home price appreciation lagged consumer inflation, pushing real home values slightly lower compared to a year ago.
Two 10 am releases; February JOLTS job openings and the Conference Board’s consumer confidence index, the index expected at 88.5 from 91.2. It was reported at 91.8. JOLTS dropped to 6.882 million from last months reading of 7.24 million.
