Crude oil increased overnight but backed off by 7:30 am ET this morning. At 8:30 am the 10 year note rate 4.69% -2 bps, MBS prices began +9 bps. Oil prices jumped sharply early on Tuesday, with global benchmark Brent crude oil futures adding 2.5% to trade near $90 per barrel, before paring gains. Brent traded 0.3% higher at $87.99 per barrel at 8:27 am.
July NFIB small business optimism index estimates were index at 97.3, reported at 99.8 and up from 97.4 in June.
Still a stand off with Iran.
At 10 am July existing home sales, estimates at 4.05 million from 4.09 million in June; as reported sales were 4.06 million.
At 1 pm Treasury will auction $58B of 3 year notes.
Tomorrow July CPI is expected to indicate month/month overall and core inflation increased from June while year/year overall and core were down slightly.
